ashtanga yoga chants

The opening mantra is a gateway to the inner space, preparing you for the practice of asanas with awareness, that what you are about to do goes beyond the purely physical aspect. In addition, it is a way to express one's gratitude towards the lineage and the thousands of teachers who have passed on yoga over the centuries, allowing us today to know and practice it, as well as enjoy its benefits.

which are the refuge, the jungle physician,
who eliminates the delusion caused by the poison of Samsara (conditioned existence).

I salute before the sage Patanjali, who has thousands of radiant

white heads (as the divine serpent, Ananta)
and who has, as far as his arms, assumed the form of a man holding a conch shell (divine sound), a wheel (discus of light or infinite time) and a sword (discrimination).
